iFlash Touch: Another Submission Update

Loopware — Tags: — Davey @ April 29, 2009

iFlash Touch is still waiting for approval by Apple. I’ve been contacted once by them with a problem, and sent an email clarifying the solution (they weren’t using the right version of iFlash for the Mac), but I still haven’t heard back from them (that was 3 days ago).

I’ll update again once I get some good news :-).

iFlash Touch: Studying Your Cards!

Loopware — Tags: — Davey @ April 25, 2009

As part of iFlash Touch being submitted to the App Store, I am going to be posting details about the app all throughout the week. This is the last in the series of how iFlash will work on your iPhone. Read “Exporting Decks” and “Viewing your cards” for more iFlash Touch info!

I spent a while figuring out how studying should work on the iPhone, and I think I’ve come up with a good compromise between simplicity and features. Here are the settings for studying:

There’s not much there, but that’s on purpose :). I tried to keep iFlash Touch as streamlined as possible, which carries into the design of the study view…

Basically, the entire screen is devoted to your cards. Flicking left and right changes cards, while up and down switches card sides. Pinching changes the text size of the current card side. And, tapping the bottom of the screen will go to the next side/card, if you don’t want to flick :).

Once you’re gone through all the cards, you’ll see this screen:

… and that’s it! Now, you’ve pretty much seen all of what iFlash Touch has to offer. There are a few little tidbits, but I’ll leave those to be discovered :). I hope you’ve enjoyed these previews!

P.S. And yes, landscape mode works while studying!

iFlash Touch: App Submission Update

Hey everyone,

I’m still waiting for iFlash Touch to be approved by Apple. I was hoping it’d be done by this week, but it’s looking like it may take another week or two (I honestly have no idea how long it’ll take, as Apple doesn’t provide any timeframe).

I’ll update again soon with another preview of studying your cards with iFlash Touch :). And, once iFlash Touch is approved, iFlash 2.8 will be released for the Mac to enable exporting!

iFlash Touch: Viewing your cards

Loopware — Tags: — Davey @ April 22, 2009

As part of iFlash Touch being submitted to the App Store, I am going to be posting details about the app all throughout the week. Stay tuned, as each day will bring more information!

iFlash Touch will allow you to view all the categories in your deck, as well as all of the cards inside each category. Here is the view that lets you see all categories:

Tapping a category will initiate studying, while pressing the blue arrow will show you all the cards in that category:

From this view, you can check/uncheck cards and begin studying all the cards in the category.

For the next update (tomorrow!), I’ll post how studying your cards will work.

iFlash Touch: How to get decks onto your iPhone!

Loopware — Tags: — Davey @ April 21, 2009

As part of iFlash Touch being submitted to the App Store, I am going to be posting details about the app all throughout the week. Stay tuned, as each day will bring more information!

You may be wondering how you will get decks into iFlash Touch? I spent a lot of time deliberating between a few options, and settled on using the existing wireless network in your home. So, to sync between iFlash and iFlash Touch, all you need to do is select your device from a toolbar menu:

Then, once you’ve exported the deck, it’ll show up in the list of decks on your iPhone!

… and that’s it! From here you can study all the decks you have on your iPhone.

Tomorrow I’ll post some screenshots detailing how your decks will look in iFlash Touch (the good stuff). :)

iFlash Touch submitted to the App Store!

Loopware — Tags: — Davey @ April 20, 2009

iFlash Touch 1.0 was submitted today for review in the iTunes App Store! That means that, if no surprises come about, it should be available for all to download for free in the next week. :)

Quick note + some good news!

Loopware — Tags: — Davey @ March 30, 2009

Just a quick note on why iFlash Touch is taking so long. It isn’t because of any particular show stopping issues with iFlash Touch or iFlash itself. Rather, it’s because I’m a full-time college student who has to place my studies as priority number 1.

I can’t emphasize enough how much it hurts me to think about how long iFlash Touch has taken. I recently dropped a class just to find some time to work on it, and am now hoping to submit version 1.0 to the App Store in the next 3 weeks.

I’ll end this note with some good news: iFlash Touch is going to be 100% free when it’s released in the App Store! It’ll require iFlash for the Mac, naturally, but if you already own iFlash then you’ll be able to export to your iPhone/iPod touch for free.

Thanks again everyone for your patience. I’ll update again once iFlash Touch has been submitted to the App Store.

iFlash touch status update!

Loopware — Tags: — Davey @ January 14, 2009

It’s been a while since my last post, and I thought I should update everyone on how iFlash touch is going. Well, it’s going… well! The first private beta has been sent out and I’ve been receiving awesome feedback from the beta testers (thank you all!). I didn’t have much time to work on iFlash touch during the holidays, but now that they’re over I’ll have some quality time to spend getting it up to speed.

I hope to release it within the next month or two, pending any show-stopping issues.

Thanks for your patience! I know it’s been a long wait, but I hope the final product is ultimately worth it :-).

Want to help beta test iFlash touch?

Loopware — Tags: — Davey @ December 7, 2008

Update (12/9/2009): I’m not accepting any more applicants. Thanks to everyone who emailed! I will be updating this blog with iFlash touch developments, so stay tuned!

In a few weeks I’ll be sending out a beta of iFlash touch, and I’d like to get as many beta testers as I can!

If you’d like to help beta test iFlash touch, please send an email to <email removed> containing both your device ID and a sample deck from iFlash you plan on exporting, and I’ll add you to the beta list if there’s space! If you’ve emailed me before about beta testing, please email me again at the above address with your device ID :-).

Follow these instructions to get your Device ID, if you’re not sure what it is.

Thanks everyone!

Quick note: the “iFlash” in the App Store isn’t mine!

Loopware — Tags: — Davey @

Just a quick note to let everyone know that the “iFlash” app in the App Store isn’t made by me! I’ve contacted the author of that app to sort things out :-).

Thanks to everyone that let me know!
